WUPATKI was composed March 27 for Matangi, shortly after I returned from visiting the archeological site in northern Arizona, March 11 2020. Matangi asked several composers to write a 90 seconds piece during the pandemic.  Wupatki was inspired by the native Indian pentatonic music I heard at  the museum in Tuba and the Heard Museum in Phoenix.
