WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY? for symphony orchestra was commissioned by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and composed June 2020. The world premiere, conducted by François-Xavier Roth, took place at het Amsterdams Concertgebouw, August 20, 22 and 23 2020. In ‘WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY?‘ I express my confusion and speechlessness about today’s world full of complex ecological, political, social, cultural, humanitarian and economic problems. The term ‘Who, what, where, when, why’, also called the ‘5 W’s’, consists of 5 core questions to gather information or solve problems. In philosophy or journalism, for instance, the 5 Ws are often applied.
