Encanto del Sol poniente, for soprano and piano, on lyrics by Hendrik de Vries, was composed February 1994, commissioned by the Groningen Province, celebrating  400 years of that Dutch province. The late Grethe de Vink and Dick Leutscher performed it May 21 1994 at the Martinikerk in Groningen, in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands.
