Diapason
Duration 10:00
Diapason was written in 1988 with financial support from the city of Groningen. The Greek word ‘diapason’ means: ‘through all the strings’. It also refers to the tuning pitch, like the A of 440 Hz. Diapason is based on a bourdon, a ground bass on the tone of A. All melodies contain the most dissonant intervals imaginable on that keynote. The guitars reflect each other like in a mirror. The mid section is fast and rhythmical, and culminates in a violent pizzicato conflict, after which there is a return to the opening theme. Diapason was recorded by Groningen Guitar Duo on the CD Body of your Dreams, containing the guitar duos by JacobTV, Basta Records, 30-919-22
