Cannibal Mess is an octet for gamelan,  arranged March 1998 by request of Dutch gamelan ensemble Gending and its conductor Jurrien Sligter, who also recorded it on their CD Soekarno Blues. The piece is an instrumental extract from Animal Mass, for 4 singers and large gamelan, composed in 1996 and commissioned by FPA. In 2010 Cannibal Mess was also arranged for gamelan & string quartet, for Ethel and Gamelan from Indonesia, for Grenswerk Enschede. Orchestration: Saron Peking, Saron Barung, Saron Demung, Bonang Panerus, Bonang Barung, Gender Barung, Kendang, Kempul, Gong Suwakan & Gong Ageng
