1951Born 14-11 in Westerlee, the Netherlands as son of a high school teacher and a mo who sang in choirs all her life. Fascinated by street organs, accordions, marching bands and their tambour maitre.
1961Singing in the boys' choir of Bach’s St Matthew Passion
1959 - 1968Playing recorder and flute at local music school in Winschoten. Discovering Bob Dylan, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, John Coltrane etc.
1968 - 1980Practicing improvisation, playing blues, rock, free jazz in different bands, on flute, bass guitar, keyboards, alto sax, mouth harp. Composing electronic music in the studio in Groningen
1971 - 1980Study school music, composition and electronic music at Groningen Conservatory with Luctor Ponse and Willem Frederik Bon
Early works ( Massief, Versleten Liedje, Beat Tells Me So) performed at Oosterpoort
1976Opera Movements & Mottoballen premiered at Groningen Oosterpoort by students of conservatoire and Minerva art school
1977 - 1980Music librarian, high school music teacher. Composing 13 in 12, Papschachtelwelt, Pianoboek 1 etc.
1980Received Composition Prize of the Netherlands. Composing First Symphony. Playing a rock band
1981 - 1988Composing music for documentaries & commercials
